Nominations sought for UNMC’s Gold ‘U’ and Silver ‘U’ Awards

Recent Gold U winners Jacqueline Pavlik, Susan Blumel and John Ingraham

UNMC Human Resources is looking for colleagues who consistently go above and beyond to shine a light on their achievements.

The Employee Reward and Recognition Awards acknowledge the outstanding contributions of team members who make UNMC exceptional through:

  • Outstanding leadership: Inspiring leaders who drive positive change.
  • Exceptional service: Those who provide exceptional support and service.
  • Innovative excellence: Creative thinkers who advance UNMC’s mission.
  • Commitment to community: Individuals deeply involved in the campus community.

Chancellor’s Commendation Gold “U” Award

The Gold U Award recognizes members of the UNMC community who consistently deliver outstanding performance and service to UNMC. This prestigious award is given six times a year and can be won only once by each individual.

Managerial professional and office service employees are eligible for the Chancellor’s Commendation Gold “U” Award. Faculty and administrative staff are not eligible for this award. Recipients of the Gold “U” Award also receive recognition at the University of Nebraska Board of Regents meeting and the Kudos certificate.

Silver “U” Award

The Silver “U” Award is given annually to about 72 managerial professional, office services, graduate assistants and other academic employees whose overall performance is above and beyond the scope of their position. Nominations for the Silver “U” Award should highlight how the employee demonstrates one or more of the UNMC ITEACH values through a direct or supporting role.

How to nominate a colleague:

  • Identify a deserving colleague or co-worker.
  • Log into People Are Everything for more information about each award’s criteria.
  • Submit a nomination through People Are Everything.

“Let’s come together to celebrate the exceptional talent and dedication that makes our campus truly outstanding,” said Linda Cunningham,  interim director of UNMC Human Resources.
