UNMC is a Top 100 United Way partner
UNMC has been recognized among the Top 100 United Way of the Midlands campaign partners for its participation in the 2023 campaign that raised more than $30 million. The Top 100 partners were featured in a full-page ad in the Aug. 4 Omaha World-Herald. Nebraska Medicine also was among the honorees.
UNMC’s “contributions are making a meaningful difference for so many individuals and families in our community,” said United Way of the Midlands President and CEO Shawna Forsberg.
UNMC first partnered with United Way in 1989, launching a leadership-only campaign. In 1994, UNMC opened its United Way campaign to all med center employees and raised $109,023. Since then, UNMC has continued to participate in the annual United Way campaign, which benefits local nonprofits in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro.
Kelsey Scroggin, with UNMC strategic communications and UNMC’s liaison with United Way, said UNMC’s employee participation increased by 2% last year. “It was the highest it’s been in the past four years,” she said. “Together, we are making a difference, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve during this year’s campaign.”
