Linda Cunningham has been named interim director of UNMC Human Resources, effective Sept. 1.
Cunningham, who serves as UNMC’s associate director of HR, will succeed Sarah Gloden Carlson, JD, who has led the department since 2022. While Gloden Carlson is stepping away from HR to pursue other opportunities, she will continue to serve as UNMC’s chief compliance officer on a part-time basis – a role she has held since July 2016.
“We’re pleased to have Linda serve as interim director of HR,” said Anne Barnes, vice chancellor for business, finance and business development at UNMC. “Linda’s experience, background and understanding of HR issues will ensure a seamless transition for our employees and institution. I want to thank Sarah for her outstanding leadership of the department and for her continued work as our chief compliance officer.”
Cunningham joined UNMC in 1998, initially working in the UNMC Division of Cardiology. After earning a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska, she served as assistant director of community partnership before transitioning to UNMC Human Resources. In human resources, she has held positions including division director, assistant director and, since 2020, associate director. In her current role, Cunningham provides leadership for employee relations, training and development, employee benefits and the child development center.
