Reuniting with friends, learning about campus growth and celebrating distinguished alumni will be part of UNMC Alumni Reunion Weekend, Sept. 27-28, when more than 250 alumni and guests will return to Omaha and the UNMC campus.
Alumni from the UNMC Colleges of Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy will participate, with class years spanning 1964-2014. Activities include:
- Walking tours of iEXCEL, the Wigton Heritage Center, the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, the Chihuly Sanctuary, the McGoogan Health Sciences Library, campus artwork, the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and more.
- The welcome back lunch featuring Lt. Col. Elizabeth Schnaubelt, director of the Center for Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills (C-STARS) Omaha, speaking about UNMC’s role in advancing the readiness skills of U.S. Air Force medical personnel.
- Profession-specific programming, including tours, special presentations and dean’s receptions that will include state-of-the-college updates, recognition of award recipients and honor classes, refreshments and socializing.
- More than 20 class parties across Omaha.
The award recipients who will be recognized over the weekend include:

- Robert Wergin, MD’79, Dedication to Student Excellence Award
- David O’Dell, MD’84, Dedication to Student Excellence Award
- Brady Beecham, MD’11, Early Career Achievement Award
- Andre Kalil, MD, MPH’11, Honorary Alumnus Award
These award recipients will be recognized during the Dean’s Reception with Brad Britigan, MD, dean of the UNMC College of Medicine, on Friday, Sept. 27, at 3 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010. RSVPs are requested by Sept. 13.
