New faculty spotlight: Ralph Hauke, MD

Ralph Hauke, MD

Ralph Hauke, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Ralph Hauke, MD
  • Current positions at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine: Assistant professor, UNMC Department of Family Medicine; family medicine physician, Nebraska Medicine
  • Hometown: Omaha

Education:

  • Medical school at the UNMC College of Medicine
  • Residency in family practice at UNMC College of Medicine

Professional and medical interests: Preventative health and chronic disease management

How I fell in love with my specialty: I was drawn to primary care because it allows a provider to establish a personal relationship with their patients over many visits, getting to know them on a personal level in addition to as a patient. This allows you to be a partner in their care during regular health care maintenance visits focusing on preventative medicine and when facing serious illness during acute visits. Family medicine specifically has allowed me to care for patients of all ages and even different generations within the same family, further deepening those relationships. I look forward to continuing to establish and build on these relationships in my practice.

Memberships:

  • American Academy of Family Physicians
  • Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians

Three things people may not know about me:

  • My parents are originally from Panama.
  • I am a diehard sports fan, following college football, college basketball and soccer.
  • I love dogs and have a 2-year-old rat terrier mix.

Clinic location: Chalco Health Center

For appointments: 402-559-0444
