New faculty spotlight: Kiley Cameron, MD

Kiley Cameron, MD

Kiley Cameron, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Kiley Cameron, MD
  • Titles at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine: Assistant professor, UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences; neurology physician, Nebraska Medicine
  • Hometown: Craig, Nebraska

Education:

  • Medical school at UNMC College of Medicine
  • Residency in neurology at UNMC College of Medicine
  • Fellowship in epilepsy at Medical College of Wisconsin

Professional and medical interests: I find myself the most passionate in projects focused on quality improvement for patient care and also the overall wellness of health care professionals.

How I fell in love with my specialty: I worked as a nursing assistant at a rehab facility for brain and spinal cord injuries before medical school and was drawn to the simultaneous fragility and resilience of our neurological system. A neurological diagnosis often changes a person’s life forever, and we are honored to be experts guiding our patients and their families through it all.

Memberships:

  • American Academy of Neurology
  • American Epilepsy Society
  • The Neurohospitalist Society
  • Wisconsin Neurodiagnostic Society

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I love national parks. Wildlife viewing is my favorite part (bear and moose sightings especially), but I also enjoy camping, hiking and rafting. In the mountains, red rocks and the trees are where I am the happiest.
  • Rescue animals are a big part of my life. I volunteered in rescues and fostered dogs before and during medical school. I’ve worked with many abused animals, and the rehabilitation is difficult but rewarding.
  • I’ve seen more bands live than I can count over the years – I love a good music festival and traveling to see my favorite bands.

Clinic location: Neurological Sciences Center at Clarkson Doctors Building North
