Legislative candidate Margo Juarez visits UNMC

Legislative candidate Margo Juarez, right, visited with Dossy Felts, associate director of administration and operations, Global Center for Health Security, during a recent tour of UNMC.

Margo Juarez, who is running to represent District 5 (much of South Omaha) in the Nebraska legislature, recently visited UNMC.

Juarez, who currently serves on the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education, said she appreciated the invitation to learn more about and hear the concerns of an entity that works so closely with state lawmakers.

She met with Interim Chancellor Dele Davies, MD, and took a tour of the Davis Global Center focused on the biopreparedness expertise of the Global Center for Health Security. She toured the Isolation System for Treatment and Agile Response for high-risk Infections (ISTARI) and the National Quarantine Unit, the only federally funded resource of its kind in the U.S.

Since she is running for state office for the first time, “I appreciate having the opportunity to establish these relationships,” she said.
