Dr. Anderson Berry chosen for Leadership Omaha

UNMC’s Ann Anderson Berry, MD, PhD, has been named to Leadership Omaha’s Class 47 through the Greater Omaha Chamber.

Dr. Anderson Berry is executive director at the Child Health Research Institute, vice chair of research for the UNMC Department of Pediatrics and the Dr. John and Patti Sparks Chair of Pediatric Research at UNMC, division chief of neonatology at Children’s Nebraska and vice president of research at Children’s.

Participants are selected by a committee of Leadership Omaha alumni and chamber board members. The class will spend the next 10 months focusing on community trusteeship, community awareness and leadership styles, joining a network of more than 1,700 Leadership Omaha alumni.

“This is an exciting time for these leaders, and we are proud of our members in Leadership Omaha Class 47, who are preparing to embark on a journey to strengthen our region through effective communication, increased awareness, strong leadership and inspiration, both within themselves and for our city,” said Daniela Rojas Florez, the chamber’s director of community leadership programs.

Summer Chill returns on July 31

UNeMed’s Summer Chill event will return on Wednesday, July 31, from 2-4 p.m., in the green space outside the Durham Research Center towers.

Co-sponsored by the UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the event will feature games, fun and refreshments to help UNMC researchers, faculty, staff and students meet and connect with colleagues and UNeMed staff.

Complimentary flavored shaved ice will be provided by Kona Ice while supplies last.

Textbooks available starting Aug. 1

Textbooks for UNMC’s fall sessions will be available at the UNMC Bookstore starting Thursday, Aug. 1. For students who need help finding course books, the textbook department will be available for assistance beginning that day.

Campus food vendors

Food vendors are available on both the east and west sides of the UNMC Omaha campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. The current schedule is:

East end of campus (Sorrell Center, Alumni Commons area):

  • Monday – Taste of Heaven
  • Tuesday – Zemogs
  • Wednesday – Taste of Heaven
  • Thursday – Taste of Heaven
  • Friday – Pim’s Thai Catering & Take Out

West end of campus (Durham Research Center’s Maurer Commons area):
