The UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is seeking nominations for UNMC’s prestigious research faculty awards and community service to research awards. Nominations will close on July 26.
Nominations are open for the following faculty awards:
- New Investigator Award: Nominees should be assistant professors or higher and have received their first independent national funding within fiscal year 2024 (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024).
- Distinguished Scientist Award: Nominees should have at least one year of service at UNMC, hold the position of associate professor or above and have a track record of securing extramural funding at UNMC.
- Research Leadership Award: This accolade is reserved for previous recipients of the Distinguished Scientist Award with a continued record of consistent national funding and demonstrated research leadership at UNMC.
- Scientist Laureate Award: As UNMC’s highest research honor, nominees must meet all criteria for Distinguished Scientists and have a minimum of five years of service at UNMC prior to the award year.
Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination for faculty research awards, and self-nominations are accepted. Submit nominations with a copy of the nominee’s curriculum vitae through the NuRamp internal competitions application on or before July 26.
Community Service to Research Award
UNMC faculty and staff also can nominate individuals or groups for the Community Service to Research Award through the online form on or before July 26. Award nominees cannot be employed by the University of Nebraska.
Some accomplishments for nominated individuals include:
- Collaborator or volunteer to support UNMC research projects.
- Advisor to a research program.
- Community member serving on a UNMC research oversight committee.
- Activist who speaks up for research and its value in the community.
All research award honorees will be announced as part of UNMC’s Distinguished Scientist Awards Ceremony in fall 2024.
