How long is your training program and how long have you been at UNMC?
I first came to UNMC for internal medicine residency, which is a three-year long program. I am at the end of my second year of residency.
What do you like the most about your training program?
The residents and attendings really make our program special.
What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future?
Health care affordability is a huge barrier for patients. Learning to navigate insurance and advocating for patients to get adequate access to care will continue to be challenging to those entering the medical field and remains a critical component of medical education.
List some accomplishments that you are proud of:
- I ran my first full marathon.
- I have been working on a prospective research project involving CAR-T cell patients, and we just got back some exciting preliminary data.
- I can now navigate the tunnels to get to Lied Tower.
Tell us three things about you that others may not know:
- I have been to 18 different national parks.
- I am an avid baker. I think I have perfected my cinnamon roll recipe.
- My mom is an oncologist at UNMC, and she just retired after working here for over 35 years. I’m so proud of her.
