Earlier this spring, Maria Michaelis, MD, completed her term of service on the Nebraska Board of Medicine and Surgery. The board is made of six physician members and two public members selected for a five-year term.
The Board of Medicine and Surgery functions to issue licenses to physicians and other medical professionals, as well as monitor their ongoing education and training to ensure that they maintain their competence.
The Board is also charged with the responsibility of evaluating whether physicians’ professional conduct or ability to practice medicine warrants modification, suspension, or revocation of the license to practice.
Dr. Michaelis continues her service as one of two commissioners on the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact.
