The UNMC Center for Healthy Living invites the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community to a bike and walk event on the Field Club Trail Wednesday, June 19, starting at 4:30 p.m. outside the Center for Healthy Living.
Resource tables will feature Ponderosa Cyclery, Heartland Bike Share, TravelSmart and Bike Walk Nebraska. Electric bikes will be available to try before the ride. The ride/walk begins at 5 p.m.
Cyclists will ride from the Center for Healthy Living to Karen Park and back for an 11-mile round trip. Cyclists should bring their own bikes, helmets and water. Heartland B-Cycle stations are located around campus, including one outside the Center for Healthy Living. Bikes can be rented through the app with a Heartland B-Cycle membership and while supplies last.
Walkers will take the trail from the Center for Healthy Living to Vinton Street for a four-mile round trip. They should bring walking shoes, comfortable clothes and water.
Participants can go as far as they choose on either the ride or the walk.
This event is free and open to members of the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community, which includes students and employees, as well as members of the Center for Healthy Living. No registration is required, and participants do not need to be members to participate. The center’s restrooms will be available for general use and for participants to change clothes.
