The 2024 Nebraska Antimicrobial Stewardship Summit, with the theme “Smart Antibiotic Choices, Stronger Future,” is scheduled for May 31 at the La Vista Hotel & Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway.
This summit will highlight the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and focus on implementation strategies to promote facility-wide incorporation and improved antimicrobial use and patient outcomes.
The summit will aim to:
- Facilitate discussions on the impact of antibiotic stewardship interventions, including patient outcomes, cost-effectiveness and reduction in antibiotic resistance.
- Promote evidence-based information to help health care professionals make informed decisions about antibiotic treatment.
- Foster collaboration among health care professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and administrators, to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
The summit director is Muhammad Salman Ashraf, MBBS, associate professor in the UNMC Division of Infectious Diseases and associate medical director of the Nebraska Antimicrobial Stewardship Assessment and Promotion Program.
