Jack Begley is the UNMC College of Medicine Student of the Month for April.
- Name: Jack Begley
- Hometown: Omaha
- Year: M3, Class of 2025
Education: I was born and raised in Omaha and attended Millard North High School. I graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
Hobbies: I enjoy running, cooking, listening to live music and watching football and basketball with my friends and family.
What do you do to stay balanced? I try to be as efficient as possible while working and studying. This allows me to spend more time doing other things I enjoy! Also, I make sure to stay connected with my friends and family who are not involved in medicine, even if this means sacrificing a little study time. Their added perspective often keeps me focused on the most important things in life and prevents me from getting “too high” or “too low” while navigating the ups and downs of medical school.
Three things people may not know about me:
- As a linebacker on the North Dakota State football team, I was a part of multiple NCAA D-I FCS National Championships. Go Bison!
- So far, my greatest achievement in medical school was winning the first COM Chili Cook-off.
- Growing up, my family never owned any pets. However, last year, my wife finally convinced me to adopt a kitten from the humane society. I think this officially makes me a “cat guy,” at least for now.
