UNMC will hold its second annual recognition of World Health Day on Thursday, April 4, advocating for global health awareness. In recognition of the vital interplay between global and local health, the event emphasizes the significance of collective efforts in addressing worldwide health challenges.
The two speakers will be:
- Raji Tajudeen, MD, head of the division of public health institutes and research at the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He presentation titled, “The Role of Africa CDC in Global Health,” will be from 9-10 a.m. CDT over Zoom. Dr. Tajudeen will illuminate the pivotal role of collaborative initiatives in combating health disparities across the region.
- Peter Kilmarx, MD, acting director of the Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health. He will deliver a presentation titled, “Perspectives in Global Health Research from the Fogarty International Center.” Dr. Kilmarx’s address, which will run from noon-1 p.m. CDT, will delve into the latest advancements and challenges in global health research, highlighting the imperative of international collaboration in driving scientific innovation. It will be offered in person at the Maurer Center for Public Health, room 3013, and via Zoom. The first 50 attendees will enjoy a complimentary boxed lunch.
