Munroe-Meyer Institute team members will help to celebrate inclusion during World Autism Day.
The celebration, hosted by Autism Action Partnership, is April 7. The public is invited to the Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront, 1011 Douglas St., from noon to 3 p.m.
World Autism Day serves as a reminder that every individual deserves acceptance, understanding and the opportunity to thrive. The event is a way to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion.
“MMI is committed to embracing the value and dignity of every individual,” said Melonie Welsh, director of community engagement. “We aim to advocate not only for awareness but acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan 365 days of the year. On World Autism Day, MMI joins families impacted by ASD and community partners to provide an inclusive day filled with fun, understanding, and solidarity.”
MMI’s integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder, occupational therapy department and community engagement department will have representatives at the park.
The event, which is free and open to the public, offers family-friendly activities, including games and face painting.
