UNMC celebrated Employee Appreciation Day on March 1, offering employees a big thank you for their hard work. The event also provided food and a chance to break away for some fun.
The event, sponsored by the UNMC Chancellor’s Office and organized and coordinated by UNMC Human Resources, was held at three sites across the Omaha campus. The Durham Research Center featured a wellness theme, and the Center for Healthy Living offered games, while Eppley Science Hall hosted an employee talent show.
In all, more than 500 UNMC employees attended.
“Our primary goal today is to say thank you to all of you,” Sarah Gloden Carlson, assistant vice chancellor and director for human resources, said in welcoming employees to the talent show. “Thank you for all that you do to make UNMC successful. Thank you for all that you do to help us meet the mission of the University of Nebraska. Thank you for all you do for our students.”
This year’s event was significantly supported by the efforts of the events staff at UNMC Strategic Communications and numerous volunteers. Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and other senior leaders were in attendance at all of the event locations.

As one measure of thanks for employees’ efforts, UNMC added 1,000 points to every employee’s People Are Everything rewards account.
UNMC Human Resources also randomly drew the names of event attendees to add an additional 5,000 points to their People Are Everything accounts.
