Zach Walkenhorst, MD, is a new resident physician with the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology.
Why did you choose the medical field? I chose the medical field because I had a significant injury during my first year of undergraduate studies and was in/out of the hospital and doctor’s office for several months. It was an important time for me and I wanted to make a similar impact on others as a doctor!
What made you choose anesthesiology? I felt like the fast-paced and quick decision-making nature of anesthesiology matched perfectly with my personality. The people in the specialty were all very welcoming and I decided that it was the best fit!

- Lastly, I’m extremely proud of matching at UNMC in anesthesiology!
