Nominations open for administrative excellence awards
The med center’s Administrative Professionals Network Employee Resource Group will accept nominations through March 22 for awards to honor administrative professionals for their hard work and contributions to the organization.
Any UNMC or Nebraska Medicine colleague is eligible to submit a nomination. Only those individuals who currently work in an administrative professional role can be nominated. Winners will be announced during the Administrative Professionals Day event on April 26 in the Wigton Heritage Center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Award categories are:
- The Administrative Excellence in Public Service Award: Honors administrative professionals employed at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine in public facing areas. These individuals have made a significant contribution to the success of the organization/department in an administrative capacity. Nominate at this link.
- The Administrative Spirit Award: Honors an individual who has had a meaningful impact within the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine administrative professionals by consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, dedication, initiative and the ability to work together toward a common vision. Their actions serve to motivate colleagues, patients and families, and help to make UNMC and Nebraska Medicine a more inclusive and welcoming place to work. Nominate at this link.
- The Above the Call Award: Honors an administrative professional who goes above and beyond in delivering an exceptional customer experience, a phenomenal first impression and serves internal and external customers with professionalism, enthusiasm and care. Qualifying candidates include any administrative professional whose job responsibility involves significant interaction with colleagues, customers, vendors, patients or families. Impact in Education photo album
UNMC held its Impact in Education Awards ceremony in the Durham Research Center auditorium on Feb. 29. See this Flickr photo album from the event by UNMC photographer Kent Sievers.
The awards honored eight UNMC educators, including Allison Cushman-Vokoun, MD, PhD, professor in the UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, who is this year’s Varner Educator Laureate.

Library has new AskUs hours
Starting Monday, March 11, McGoogan Library AskUs desk hours will be Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The library will continue to be open 24/7 for individuals with a UNMC or Nebraska Medicine ID badge. Individuals can view all services and resources the library provides by visiting the library’s website.
Food vendors on campus
Food vendors are available weekdays on the UNMC Omaha campus. Vendors are located on both the east and west sides of campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.

East end of campus (Sorrell Center, Alumni Commons area unless specified otherwise below):

- Thursdays – Let Me Feed You
- Fridays – Pim’s Thai Catering & Take Out
