The Child Health Research Institute and UNMC Department of Pediatrics invite researchers to attend the “Grantsmanship” pediatric academic workshop on March 22 in the conference room/pre-function room at Children’s Nebraska on the first floor of Indian Hills East.
Attendees will take part in a day-long exploration of the grant process with experts in the field and improve their skills in and understanding of creating a successful funding appeal.
The event agenda includes:
- 9:15-10 a.m.: Keynote: Karen Gould, PhD, professor and vice chair for faculty development, “Grantsmanship Basics: Prepare Yourself to be Funded”
- 10-10:30 a.m.: Matthew Sandbulte, PhD, grant and scientific writer, “Propose a Strong Data Management and Sharing Plan: Why and How”
- 10:30-11 a.m.: Carol Geary, PhD, assistant professor, “Data and Research Network Opportunities at UNMC”
- 11 a.m.- Noon: Teresa Hartman, professor and head of education, McGoogan Health Science Library, “The Power of Citation Management: Boosting Your Productivity”
Peer consulting sessions are scheduled for 1:30-2:30 p.m. with Sandbulte, Valarie Warner, finance and grants coordinator with CHRI administration, and Caitlin Ray, PhD, grants writer/administration coordinator with the UNMC College of Public Health.
A social networking hour will follow.
