The UNMC College of Nursing-Northern Division in Norfolk has been named the top college in its region. The northern division took home first place in the “Best University/College” category in News Channel Nebraska’s 2024 Best of Northeast Nebraska awards.
Angela Johnson, EdD, northern division assistant dean, said the award exemplifies the students, staff and faculty who make up the division.
“This honor highlights our commitment to providing exceptional nursing education and fostering a supportive learning environment for our students,” she said. “It reflects the dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff and students who strive for excellence.”
The recognition shows the strides taken by the northern division to bolster the rural nursing workforce, said Lepaine Sharp McHenry, DNP, dean of the UNMC College of Nursing.
“Our program continues to produce graduates who are sought after by health care institutions across the region,” she said.
