Lighting system upgrades will take place this week

Starting Monday, Feb. 19, UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Facilities Management and Planning will begin a system upgrade on the campus Encelium lighting management system.

This is the final phase of a systemwide upgrade bringing stability improvements and many user requested features, such as:

• Two-stage off: This allows the lights to dim for a few seconds before turning off, giving the user notice.
• Grace period: This is a window of a few seconds after the lights automatically turn off where the user can activate the motion sensor again, turning the lights back on without having to go use the switch.

Upgrades to the back-end system will start Monday morning, and individual building level upgrades will begin after that. During the building specific upgrades, lighting controls will not be available, lights may turn on or off, go to full brightness or gently flash as the system updates and reboots.

This will only affect lighting; no power outlets or equipment are affected by this upgrade. Facilities will be onsite during the process to inform staff, monitor progress and confirm system operation.
