Kelly Caverzagie, MD, associate dean for learning environment and educational strategy, announced in late January that the UNMC College of Medicine’s governance website has been revised to update the governance structure of the college and provide greater clarity and transparency.
“The site now includes more information about the Faculty Council, which is the overarching governance body for the College of Medicine, as well as the 10 standing committees.”
Some specific information now housed on the site includes:
- Faculty Council charge, charter and membership
- Survey link in which faculty can request Faculty Council consideration of a topic related to education or research
- Standing Committee charters, membership and annual report
Dr. Caverzagie urged college faculty to review the website.
“College leaders will be happy to respond to questions or address issues if needed,” he said.
He also suggested faculty consider nominating themselves or colleagues for election to one of the governance bodies for the upcoming academic year.
Information regarding this process, including what positions are available, will be shared later in February.
