An upcoming workshop is offering people involved in research an opportunity to expand their visual communications skills and harness those skills when disseminating their ideas.
The workshop, “Beyond the Manuscript: A Skills Workshop for Improving Research Dissemination,” is offered through the UNMC College of Nursing. The in-person event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Center for Nursing Science, room 40210, at the UNMC Omaha campus.
Abbey Jo Klein, PhD, assistant professor in the UNMC College of Nursing-Omaha Division, said the workshop is applicable for anyone who engages in research or scholarly practice dissemination, along with those who seek to improve their presentation skills, from public speaking to classroom education.
The workshop will help:
- Enhance PowerPoint skills;
- Introduce visual communication concepts;
- Improve presentation delivery;
- Increase research impact;
- Strengthen knowledge transfer ability; and
- Indirectly impact patient care.
Workshop presenters will be Kirsten Hepburn, a PhD student at the UNMC College of Nursing, Roxanne Vandermause, PhD, professor and Gladys E. Sorenson Endowed Chair for Nursing, and Dr. Klein.
Registration, which is available at this link, is due by Feb. 2. The cost of registration is $25, or $15 for students, which covers the cost of lunch. Continuing education credit is available for nurses.
