The UNMC Center for Healthy Living is offering an eight-week fitness challenge and an updated schedule for fitness classes to encourage faculty, staff, students and community members to move more in 2024.
The “Join the Movement” fitness challenge begins this week and runs through March 8. Participants can sign up online or in person at the center’s front desk. Set an activity goal for the 8-week session and track activity on the provided form to complete the challenge. Participants who turn in their completed form in person or via email will win exclusive Center for Healthy Living merchandise.
The center also is introducing two new fitness classes this semester, indoor cycling and boot camp, which are open to both members and non-members. Fitness classes are included with memberships, while non-members pay a $7 drop-in fee for each class attended. The current class schedule is as follows:
- Yoga in room 1009 | Mondays and Wednesdays, noon | Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5 p.m.
- Indoor cycling in room 1004 | Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30 a.m.
- TRX suspension straps in room 1009 | Tuesdays, noon.
- Boot camp in room 1004 | Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m.
- Total body fitness in room 1004 | Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon.
Membership benefits include one-on-one consultations with a fitness specialist, access to Fitness on Demand digital workouts, locker and towel service and weekly fitness classes. Monthly membership fees can be paid via automatic payment deduction and include options for one-month, two-month, four-mouth, eight-month or ongoing memberships.
