How I fell in love with dermatology: What drove me to dermatology was the wonderful educator-physicians at UNMC during my medical training. Both Dr. Ramon Fusaro and Dr. Susan Braddock were energetic, brilliant, happy physicians who treated me with respect and kindness and made me fall in love with dermatology. I also am a visual learner, and dermatology was a perfect fit. I have never regretted my choice.
Education:
- I was trained at medical school at UNMC and so glad I did – a great education.
- I did my dermatology residence at University of Minnesota under Dr. Peter Lynch. He was a wonderful educator with abounding enthusiasm and had the ability to drive his residents to excel.
- I started at Park Nicollet right out of training, where I remained happily for 28 years. I came back to Omaha to care for my ailing father. An initial leave of absence became a retirement. However, I miss dermatology too much. Once he passed away, I decided to return. Returning to my alma mater is a dream come true.
Memberships:
- American Osteopathic Association
- American Association of Dermatology
Three things people may not know about me:
- My favorite place to be is in the cold waters of Lake Vermilion after time spent in a hot sauna, near the boundary waters of Minnesota.
- I adore all rocks but especially agates, onyx and marble
- I spent years in speech therapy in grade school for a lazy “R.” It was not fully reversed, and hence people will ask where out east I was born. I always respond proudly with east Nebraska.
Miss you dr vicky. Glad to see you are happy and healthy
