Med center pair receives presentation award
Jana Ponce, PhD, assistant professor of medical nutrition in the UNMC College of Allied Health Professions, and Jonathan Tefft, clinical quality lead at Nebraska Medicine, received the first-place award at the Nebraska Hospital Association Health Services Research and Best Practices Symposium research poster presentation.
Their study, “Excellence in malnutrition and cachexia documentation in adult hospitalized patients: A collaborative interdisciplinary approach,” showed a novel approach that incorporates cachexia (or wasting) documentation into the malnutrition assessment workflow.
The first-place honor recognizes their contribution to advancing best practices and research in the health systems and hospitals in the state of Nebraska. The work also was presented at the recent Vizient Connections Summit in Las Vegas.
