How long is your training program, and how long have you been at UNMC?
Internal medicine residency is three years long, and I’m in my third year of training at UNMC at this point.
What do you like the most about your training program?
I love the people I get to work with! I have such amazing co-residents who have made the residency program really feel like a family and make coming to work each day a lot of fun. I also get to work with excellent faculty who have been such wonderful teachers and mentors. Having the opportunity to care for patients each day is a privilege and my favorite part of being in internal medicine.
What challenges do you foresee in graduate medical education in the future?
Graduate medical education will need to continue to develop strategies to help better address social determinates of health and health disparities and to care for our aging patient population.
List some accomplishments that you are proud of:
I am proud of recently matching into the rheumatology fellowship here at UNMC. I initially went into medicine with the intention of becoming a rheumatologist and am excited to pursue this next step in my training.
