McGoogan Health Sciences Library unveiled an online version of the library’s physical exhibit honoring Dr. Stanley M. Truhlsen’s life and career today.
The physical display in the first-floor lobby of the Truhlsen Eye Institute opened to the public in June 2023.
“With the launch of an online exhibit, attendees from across the metro, Nebraska and beyond will be able to view Dr. Truhlsen’s lab coat, his awards, tools he personally used and a timeline of his life and works,” said Emily Glenn, dean of the McGoogan Library.
This year marks a decade since the Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute opened in May 2013 with the goal of elevating ophthalmology, in Nebraska and across the region, with top-quality eye care and excellence in eye research.
“The late Dr. Truhlsen’s goal was to make the Truhlsen Eye Institute a leader in specialized ophthalmology,” Glenn said. “With the new online exhibit complementing the physical tribute in the Truhlsen space, UNMC is paying tribute to that vision and the impact it has had.”
The physical and virtual displays highlighting the life and career of Dr. Truhlsen are the result of the continuing generosity of the Truhlsen family.
Individuals interested in learning more about Dr. Truhlsen’s legacy are encouraged to view the online exhibit or stop in to the Truhlsen Eye Institute during business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kudos to the library for recognizing Dr. Truhlsen with this online tribute – he was such a great man!
