A grand rounds speaker this Thursday will share his personal journey through a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and the invaluable insights he has gained along the way.
Ajay Sampat, MD, is a neurologist and associate clinical professor with the University of California Davis School of Medicine.
At a UNMC Neurology Grand Rounds, Dr. Sampat will give a presentation titled, “My ALS Journey: Thoughts, Reflections and Unsolicited Advice for Health care Providers.”

Afsaneh Shirani, MD, assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences and course director for grand rounds for the department, said the event promises to be an inspiration.
Dr. Shirani said Dr. Sampat’s story is not only deeply moving but also profoundly inspiring, offering a unique perspective on the importance of empathy in neurology, the challenges associated with neurologic diseases and the vital role of support and rediscovered purpose.
