Students, faculty and staff from across the University of Nebraska System are invited to attend the second annual NU System Sustainability Summit, to be held from 1–4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus.
The summit brings together University of Nebraska sustainability leaders and stakeholders in the hopes of prompting growth and understanding in sustainable initiatives and visions. The summit will elevate effective, efficient, economic, equitable and responsible use of resources to meet current needs — while considering the long-term implications of choices on future generations.
“At the University of Nebraska, we’ve articulated a vision for sustainability built on the common-sense beliefs and values of the people of our state,” NU System President Ted Carter said. “We are proud to work together with students, faculty and staff and all Nebraskans to be the best possible stewards of the resources entrusted to us. I’m especially grateful for the leadership, vision and engagement our students have brought to this work.”
The 2023 summit will include opportunities for networking, remarks from Chief Sustainability Officer Chris Kabourek and UNO Chancellor Joanne Li, panel discussions featuring community leaders and experts from across the NU System and a keynote address from Craig Moody, managing principal at Verdis Group and a member of the OPPD Board of Directors.
The summit is free to attend, but all students, faculty and staff are encouraged to pre-register for the event. More information and a full schedule are available on the summit webpage.
