Dr. Edagwa to address World AIDS Day event
Benson Edagwa PhD, associate professor in the UNMC Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience, will give a presentation at an event Dec. 1 to mark World AIDS Day that will be held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s International Quilt Museum.
Dr. Edagwa will discuss the advanced research on AIDS carried out at UNMC.
The event is a collaboration of UNMC, the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music and the UNL Gender and Sexuality Center, with funding from the Hixson Lied College for Fine and Performing Arts and UNL Faculty Senate Convocations Grant. It will be held from 4-6 p.m.
The event also will include:
- A performance of selections from the “AIDS Quilt Song Book” by guest artists and students of the Glenn Korff School of Music.
- A display of a panel from the AIDS Quilt, encapsulating the myriad stories, hopes and the battle against AIDS.

Food vendors on campus
Mark your calendars with the schedule of food vendors on the UNMC Omaha campus. Vendors will be located on both the east and west sides of campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. This lineup will be updated as changes are made.
The schedule is as follows:
East end of campus (Sorrell Center, Alumni Commons area unless specified otherwise below):

- Thursdays – Sgt. Peffers
- Fridays – Tastee Trailer (food trailer south of the Sorrell Center on Emile Street)
West end of campus (Durham Research Center towers)
- Mondays – Zemogs (food trailer located to the east of DRC 1)
- Tuesdays – Streetside (food truck east of Durham Research Center)
- Wednesdays – Tastee Trailer (food trailer east of Durham Research Center)

UNMC retirements
The department of human resources reported two retirements this month.
- Melissa Neiman, Munroe-Meyer Institute, retired on Sept. 16 (start date July 31, 2007)
- Thomas Gaffney, UNMC College of Nursing, retired Oct. 6 (start date June 1, 2010)
