Nursing faculty to be honored with research awards

Three UNMC College of Nursing faculty members will accept research awards in November.

Michele Balas, PhD, associate dean of research at the College of Nursing and the Dorothy Hodges Distinguished Professor of Nursing, was named UNMC’s 2023 Scientist Laureate by the UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.

Windy Alonso, PhD, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Nursing – Omaha, and Elizabeth Mollard, PhD, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Nursing Lincoln Division, were both named New Investigator Awardees.

Drs. Balas, Alonso and Mollard will be honored along with UNMC’s other 2023 research honorees, during a campus awards ceremony on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Durham Research Center auditorium. 

Profiles on both Dr. Alonso and Dr. Mollard were published in UNMC Today. An interview with Dr. Balas will be published the day of the ceremony.

UNMC College of Nursing leaders, faculty, staff and students honored the three researchers with a special reception on Sept. 14.
