Women in medicine discussion is set for Wednesday

Employee resource groups Respect, Inspire, Support, Empower (RISE) Women and WE STRIVE (Women Engaged: Support, Training and Resources to Improve Vitality and Excellence) will celebrate Women in Medicine month with a collaborative “living library” Zoom event on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from noon to 1 p.m.

“Women in Medicine Month is the perfect opportunity to highlight stories of women at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine who have risen into leadership in a variety of fields within medicine,” said Melanie Huber, RISE president. “Part our group’s main focus is to elevate the amazing work women on campus are already doing, and we hope hearing these stories will inspire others to see what different paths of leadership and growth can look like.”

Participants will have an opportunity to hear from one of five women leaders at the medical center as they present about their health care journey and experiences rising into leadership as a woman.

Panelists include:

  • Armalita Dosseh, program coordinator, iEXCEL/Interprofessional Education (IPE), UNMC
  • Corrigan McBride, MD, professor and chief of minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, UNMC; medical director of bariatrics, Nebraska Medicine
  • Emily Glenn, dean and professor, McGoogan Health Sciences Library, UNMC
  • Jennifer Bartholomew, assistant vice chancellor of facilities management and planning, UNMC; vice president of facilities management and planning, Nebraska Medicine
  • Katharine Reisbig, PharmD, director of operations, acute care pharmacy and nutrition, Nebraska Medicine

Pre-registration is required.
