The Omaha Women’s Health & Wellness Conference on Oct. 6 will return to its pre-pandemic format, providing a wide variety of health education lectures and a robust health fair with exhibits from UNMC and Nebraska Medicine departments, clinics, and programs.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Radiant Vitality: Celebrating Wellness Through Life’s Different Stages,” and it will be held at the La Vista Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Featured at the conference will be two presentations by Ally Dering-Anderson, PharmD, clinical associate professor of pharmacy practice and science at UNMC. Dr. Dering-Anderson will explain how dietary supplements are regulated and how they should be a part of your medication review with your health care provider.
In a breakout session, she will discuss what supplements may be dangerous to consume and will address questions regarding supplement efficacy.
The conference will feature main and breakout sessions. Along with the presentations on dietary supplements, additional lecture offerings will be on postpartum concerns, caregiving of older adults, ADHD in children and adolescents, back pain causes and management and healthy eating with busy schedules.
The health fair will be offered in the morning, including optional blood work and flu shots at an additional fee.
The conference is hosted by the Olson Center for Women’s Health, UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Continuing education will be provided for nurses and social workers. Registration fees are $75 for the general public and $110 for nurses and social workers.
Registration closes on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Looking forward to it, Dr. Ally! 🙂
