Nursing to honor faculty members

Windy Alonso, PhD

The UNMC College of Nursing is inviting the med center community to join college leaders, faculty, staff and students on Sept. 14 for a campus reception in honor of three of its researchers. 

The Sept. 14 nursing reception will honor:

Michele Balas, PhD, associate dean of research at the UNMC College of Nursing and Dorothy Hodges Olson Distinguished Professor of Nursing. She recently was named UNMC’s 2023 Scientist Laureate by the UNMC Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.

Windy Alsonso, PhD, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Nursing – Omaha. She is a New Investigator Awardee for having secured her first funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense or other national sources within the past two years; and

Elizabeth Mollard, PhD

Elizabeth Mollard, PhD, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Nursing – Lincoln Division, who is also a New Investigator Awardee. 

The nursing reception will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Center of Nursing Science Atrium, third floor.

The campus is invited to attend and should RSVP LaDonna Tworek by Sept. 7.

Drs. Balas, Alonso and Mollard will be honored, along with UNMC’s other 2023 research honorees, during a campus awards ceremony on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. at the Durham Research Center auditorium.
