Because of the current heat wave, UNMC’s annual #WeAreUNMC BBQ on Wednesday, Aug. 23, has been moved into the Center For Healthy Living gym.
The BBQ has become one of UNMC’s most popular annual events, a celebration of the UNMC community with classmates and coworkers.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend the BBQ from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Living. Enjoy free food (while supplies last), giveaways (while supplies last), music and other activities.
This year’s event will include a Halal meal option for the first time in collaboration with the Muslim Student Association. The meal will include marinated chicken rolled in a wrap with pickles, El Basha garlic dressing and rice.
Each year, the UNMC Office of Sustainability aims to make this event zero waste, which means that 90% of the waste created at the event is not sent to the landfill. This year, the office is striving to beat last year’s diversion rate of 65%. To volunteer with the office of sustainability, click here.
This event is hosted by the UNMC Student Senate and the Student Life Inclusion and Diversity Office, sponsored in part by Metro Credit Union, GreenSlate Management and Bergman Incentives, in collaboration with the UNMC Center for Healthy Living, the UNMC Office of Community Engagement, the UNMC Department of Strategic Communications, Sodexo, the sustainability office and the UNMC Bookstore.
