Nominations sought for UNMC’s Gold ‘U,’ Silver ‘U’ Awards

UNMC's Gold U Award winners so far in 2023 are Erin Schneider, associate director of external relations for the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska, Paul Laikko, speech-language pathologist at the Munroe-Meyer Institute, and Peggy Moore, director of e-learning.

UNMC Human Resources is seeking nominations for an excellent colleague or co-worker – someone “who completely rocks every single day,” in the words of Evelyn Grixby.

Nominations are open for the Gold “U” and Silver “U” Awards – UNMC’s top employee recognition awards.

“We know that many employees consistently go above and beyond in their work,” said Grixby, HR employee relations programs coordinator. “A nomination for the Gold ‘U’ or Silver ‘U’ awards is a great way to show appreciation to a well-deserving colleague.”

Chancellor’s Commendation Gold “U” Award

The Chancellor’s Commendation Gold “U” is awarded six times a year to employees who consistently deliver outstanding performance and service to UNMC. Recipients of the Gold “U” receive a Gold “U” pin with a genuine diamond, $100 cash award, a career development award of up to $2,500 and recognition at a University of Nebraska Board of Regents meeting that includes a Board of Regents “Kudos” certificate.

Silver “U” Award

The Silver “U” Award is given annually to approximately 72 employees whose overall performance is above and beyond the scope of their position. Awardees receive a Silver “U” pin with a genuine ruby, a clothing item with the Silver “U” logo, and a certificate of recognition.
