Talk about your job and what you like best about it:
I am one of the administrators in anesthesiology, where I handle everything I’m asked to handle. Mostly, that consists of credentialing and onboarding of providers, taking care of provider’s administrative needs, handling the facilities for the department, leading the office staff and overseeing travel, reimbursements, purchasing and — of course — many other duties as assigned.
No day is alike. There are always so many things going on that it really keeps me on my toes. I’ve been at UNMC for over 20 years and in the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology for about four and a half years. I absolutely love being a part of this department. We have strong leadership that continues to take the department forward in leaps and bounds, the providers are amazing, and I honestly adore the staff I work with. They are a huge part of why I like coming in every day.
I think the best part of my job is working with our people. I am all about customer service and making people feel important. Each person that needs my assistance will get my full attention to ensure their issue is taken care of. I try to be a customer service Rock Star!
List three things people may not know about you:
- When I was young, I lived in a log cabin, I helped to build, up in the mountains in Oregon. There were no services like running water or electricity. We heated and cooked with a wood burning stove. I swam in Crater Lake and made it about halfway across. I didn’t even mind the snakes. Nowadays, I like full amenities.
- I’m going to be a first-time grandmother at the beginning of September. Wow!!!
- I have always loved watching blood and gore movies. It always looked so real, and I wanted to learn to create stuff like that to creep people out. Someday I may take some classes to learn more.
