Volunteers are needed for the 2023 #WeAreUNMC BBQ, which will be held on Aug. 23.
People are needed for event set-up and cleanup, beverage and game stations, giveaway tables and other activities. Volunteers are needed for various hours between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. To volunteer for one of these activities, click here.
Each year, the office of sustainability aims to make this event zero waste, which means that 90% of the waste created at the event is not sent to the landfill. This year, the office is striving to beat last year’s diversion rate of 65%. To volunteer with the sustainability office, click here.
All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend the all-campus BBQ from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza. Enjoy free food (while supplies last), giveaways (while supplies last), music and backyard games. All are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
This event is hosted by the UNMC Student Senate and the Student Life Inclusion and Diversity Office, sponsored in part by Metro Credit Union, GreenSlate Management and Bergman Incentives in collaboration with the UNMC Center for Healthy Living, the UNMC Office of Community Engagement, the UNMC Department of Strategic Communications, Sodexo, the sustainability office and the UNMC Bookstore.
In the case of poor weather, the event will be moved to Aug. 30.
