UNMC’s 2024-2027 strategic plan finalized, posted online

UNMC’s 2024-2027 goals and strategies have been finalized.

“This plan reflects how we will implement our mission, vision and values and advance our university, collectively,” UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, said. “Although we have reduced the total number of strategies, we have strengthened many others based upon the extensive input we received. The final plan has an expanded emphasis on mentoring and advising and reflects our shared vision for continued strategic growth, the foundation of our future.”

The plan, available on UNMC’s website, outlines UNMC’s shared eight overarching goals and the strategies for the three years ahead.

The strategies were reviewed by the Chancellor’s Council and other UNMC leaders in December and the Office of the President in June. Each of the strategies was evaluated using a stress test to examine its viability under a future utopian scenario, a future dystopian scenario and recommendations for changing or eliminating strategies. In March, the UNMC community was invited to provide feedback.

Jane Meza, PhD, associate vice chancellor for strategic planning, said the final plan includes changes recommended by the December stress test and the UNMC community’s feedback in March. Several strategies were removed because they were not deemed sustainable based on the stress test results. Initiatives connected to strategies that were removed were reviewed and mapped to other strategies. The plan also incorporates recommendations from working groups that looked at both the campus culture survey and IT challenges and opportunities in education and research.
