New pager app available for smart phones
A new smart phone app called AMS Connect is available to all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine pager users.
AMS Connect is a HIPAA-compliant application for critical text messaging. It provides secure communications to users’ smart devices and the redundancy that hospitals rely on (where cell phone signals are present).
American Messaging’s network simultaneously sends messages to pagers and to the AMS Connect messaging app on the user’s smart phone.
To request AMS Connect, users can use their smart phone to scan the adjoining QR code. That will bring up a request form. Enter name, email, mobile number and pager number, then click submit. Users also can send an e-mail with the same information to this Nebraska Medicine email address.
Once the request is received by the med center’s pager office, users will be provisioned for the app and receive an email with download instructions for installing it from Nebraska Medicine’s app store.
Short holiday week for UNMC Today
With the holiday next week, UNMC Today will take a publication break on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4.
Have a happy and safe Independence Day!
