For anyone with documents on the NHS shared drive that they want or need, this is the one-month warning.
In January, data stored on the NHS shared drive was moved to read-only status. On July 12, this location will be decommissioned entirely, and med center colleagues no longer will have access to files stored there.
This marks another big milestone in the file migration project, which is a joint effort between Nebraska Medicine and UNMC. For more than two years, digital files have been transferred to the cloud, rather than relying upon on-premise locations for storage. Cloud-based solutions are more secure than shared drives, including the soon-to-be-decommissioned NHS drive.
Nebraska Medicine and UNMC use SharePoint and Teams, which are cloud-based storage solutions by Microsoft that are ideal for storing shared files. Both options allow for collaboration and cross-team access. Files on SharePoint or Teams can be accessed from anywhere at any time, as well, and do not require the user to be logged into the network through Global Protect.
