Hrncirik named AVC for business and finance

Mike Hrncirik

Mike Hrncirik, a longtime UNMC employee, has been named assistant vice chancellor for business and finance and controller, effective May 15.

He has served as senior manager of financial compliance and cost analysis since 2019.

In his new role, Hrncirik (pronounced hen-trick) is responsible for oversight of campus financial business operations and the controller’s office, which includes preparing financial statements, maintaining UNMC’s accounting system and sponsored programs accounting, accounts receivable, student accounts and financial compliance and cost analysis departments.

“Mike has proven his steadfast ability to get projects done in a timely manner, his willingness to help others across the entire campus and an overall commitment to UNMC values,” said Anne Barnes, vice chancellor for business, finance and business development. “We all look forward to working with Mike in this new role.”

A certified public accountant, Hrncirik joined UNMC in 2008 and earned his master’s in accounting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

“I believe in the mission of the university and am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve UNMC in this new role,” Hrncirik said. “We have seen a lot of changes in the past few years from COVID, remote work, return to campus, staffing challenges coupled with increased compliance requirements and financial standards.

“I want to assist my team in meeting these challenges and continue to serve the campus community by making sure UNMC is running in an efficient and compliant manner.”
