Repair work is set to begin for Lot 50, the parking garage connected to, and directly south of, the Durham Outpatient Center.
The repair work being done to Lot 50 involves repairing portions of the driving surface, reinstalling the post tension cables where needed, replacing most of the concrete slab control joints and painting portions of the stairwell and railings.
Work will begin Tuesday, May 16, and is scheduled to be completed in August, pending weather. The scope of the project, which includes 15 phases, each lasting up to 10 days, will result in some temporary reduction in parking stalls. For every phase, there will be signage posted at Lot 50.
In the first phase of this project, 164 parking stalls will be affected. Overflow parking will be available to Lot 50 permit holders in Lot 17, Lot 6 and Lot 63. View a parking lot map here.
For those who are assigned to Lot 50, if the vehicle permit is displayed, then no authorization by UNMC Parking Services will be required during this construction project for parking in one of the abovementioned overflow lots. However, if no permit is displayed, and someone parks in an overflow lot, authorization is required by calling Parking Services at 402-559-8580 or emailing Parking Services.
Lot 50 parking permit holders were emailed last week by Parking Services about the project and will receive another email from them later this week, and subsequent emails throughout the project.
Please adhere to the posted speed limit for the safety of everyone, because drive lanes will change during construction and construction workers will be present during the entire project. For every phase, there will be signage posted in Lot 50 to alert drivers of closures or changes to entrances and exits of the parking structure.
For any additional questions, contact UNMC Parking Services at 402-559-8580 or by email.
