MNRS conference successful for CON faculty, students

UNMC College of Nursing representatives attended the MNRS Annual Research Conference and earned several awards for presentations. Breanna Hetland, PhD, center, received the Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award.

UNCM College of Nursing students and faculty had a busy and productive visit to the 2023 Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) 47th Annual Research Conference in Des Moines, which was held March 29 through April 1.

Emily Blanchard and Catherin Magdaleno presented a mixed-methods pilot student to teach forensic exam skills to critical access providers.

At the event, college representatives hosted an array of presentations and several brought home awards for their efforts.

Myra Schmaderer, PhD, received the New Investigator Award from the Self-Care Research Interest Group.

Sheri Rowland, PhD, received the New Investigator Award from the Health Promotion Research Interest Group.

Breanna Hetland, PhD, received the Harriet H. Werley New Investigator Award. MNRS members who are new investigators are eligible, and one recipient is selected each year. 

Lynne Buchanan, PhD, presented about integrating telehealth technologies.

Christina Bach received the Distinguished Abstract Award.

The Sunny Side of Life Walk-A-Thon Team won first place. The team included PhD students Christina Bach, Abbey Klein, Kirsten Hepburn and Gisele Tlusty.

Marcia Shade, PhD, was appointed to the MNRS Board of Trustees.
