Eight student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs) who trained alongside UNMC Department of Anesthesiology CRNAs recently completed their program’s clinical requirements and were awarded Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) degrees from Bryan College of Health Sciences.
Students rotate through multiple communities gaining valuable clinical experience early on and throughout the program.
“We are always proud of our SRNA graduates, but this class had an especially trying time with the covid pandemic coinciding with the start of their clinical rotation. They persevered and it has made each of them even more resilient. We have enjoyed watching the progression of knowledge and skills they each possess,” said Melissa Smith, SRNA Education Committee member. “We are especially thankful to welcome four of them into our CRNA group here at Nebraska Medicine! We wish them success and happiness in their future careers as CRNAs.”
Four of the eight students who completed their program’s clinical requirements at Nebraska Medicine will soon join the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology as CRNAs.
