UNMC College of Public Health Dean Ali S. Khan, MD, MPH, is being honored by the Holland Children’s Institute as its 2023 Holland Hero, in recognition of his work to improve the lives of Nebraska’s children and families.
The annual Holland Hero Award is given to one or more community leaders who are dedicated to making a difference through education, philanthropy, service and other avenues.
“I am delighted on behalf of the UNMC College of Public Health to be recognized as this year’s Holland Hero and a champion of evidence-based community efforts to ensure each and every child’s potential for a healthy, happy and prosperous life can be achieved,” Dr. Khan said.
The nonpartisan Holland Children’s Institute is an “extraordinary nonprofit conducting public research and analysis on Nebraska’s most pressing issues and state policies impacting children and families,” Dr. Khan said.
“They deliver timely, robust data and facts surrounding public health care, child care and education to inform decisions toward better policy outcomes for the prosperity of all working families and their children,” he said.
Members of the UNMC community and the public are invited to register to attend an event at Gallery 1516 in downtown Omaha on Thursday, April 20 at 6 p.m., where Dr. Khan will receive the 2023 Holland Hero Award. Registration details and additional information can be found at the Holland Institute.
