Eric Brabb, MBA, is the recipient of the UNMC College of Public Health Silver U Award for March 2023. The award recognizes employees whose overall performance is above and beyond the scope of their position and demonstrates UNMC values including innovation, teamwork, excellence, accountability, courage and healing.
Eric, admissions and recruitment specialist in the Office of Educational Services, was commended by nominators for his diligent commitment to prospective and newly-admitted students, and his proactive creativity to tackle new challenges. In the words of one nominator, Eric “goes out of his way to assist prospective students in solving complex application issues, like retrieving transcripts in countries experiencing war or conflict that interrupts their university systems, identifying supplemental testing options when the COVID-19 pandemic made traditional tests difficulty or impossible to take. He also demonstrates compassion and caring in counseling students that have been denied admission to strengthen their applications for future submissions or find new paths to complete their career aspirations.”
Eric joined the College in 2019. Shortly after arriving, his nominator said, he “helped lead the largest student application and admissions growth the College has experienced.”
Eric said he was shocked to receive the Silver U award for the work he loves doing.
The service and guidance I try to provide is simply based on the help I wish I had when I was searching for where to obtain my MBA. Searching for the right program and navigating the application process can be very stressful, so I hope that I am able to alleviate some of that stress and make the process as simple as possible. I absolutely love what I do! I have one of the rare positions that gets to watch our students through the entire process. It is a great feeling watching our students receive their degrees and remembering those first conversations before many of them applied.
