Olson Center presents lecture on ticks, tick-borne diseases

Jeffrey Hamik, Tammy Dowdy and Halie Smith, from the epidemiology unit in the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services Division of Public Health, will give a presentation on “Ticks and Tick-Borne Diseases in Nebraska” on Tuesday, March 21, at noon. The webinar is part of the Olson Center for Women’s Health Brown Bag lecture series.

Staff from the department’s vector-borne disease program will look at tick biology and where ticks are found, detail the ticks of medical importance in the state and the diseases associated with them and explore best practices in preventing tick bites and reducing disease risk.

This is a free event and open to the community. Nursing credit is available for $10. Register by calling the Olson Women’s Health Resource Center at 402-559-6345, by email or through Engage. The Zoom link will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
